#Interview (002) - Cari Robe
What kind(s) of writing do you do? I am a contemporary
romance author.
What do you think most characterizes your writing? Both the
male and female lead characters tend to be alphas. I like my characters to be strong but to also
not take themselves too seriously. They
are, after all, falling in love and we know that makes people a little crazy!
Who are some of your favorite authors that you feel were
influential in your work? What impact
have they had on your writing? I have a ton of favorite authors! I have always
been an avid reader with few boundaries of genre.
What did you find most useful in learning to write? What was least useful or most destructive?
The thing that is the most useful is to be yourself and trust your own
instincts. The most destructive thing
was allowing some people’s opinions to doubt myself. You aren’t going to please everyone all the
time. If you’re true to yourself, you
will at least have one person happy all the time!
Are you a full-time or part-time writer? How does that affect your writing? I am a
part-time writer working on becoming full-time!
How do you feel about ebooks vs. print books and alternative
vs. conventional publishing? I currently only publish in eBooks and I think
that gives a lot of people the opportunity to pursue publishing without the
significant cost of conventional publishing.
What are some ways in which you promote your work? How do these helps or hurt your writing time?
To promote my books I use Facebook, Instagram and Goodreads. I participate in Author Takeover events, Live
Write events and post every day on all my formats, including my private reader
group. I feel that it’s a balance that
can be tough to achieve but I am a very schedule driven person, so I tend to
schedule out my activities and write around them. Of course, writing is important but if no one
knows about it it’s less important.
What do you like to read in your free time? I read military
suspense, romance, paranormal romance, nonfiction, fiction, etc…
What projects are you working on at the present? I am
currently getting ready for Private Securities: Davis Entertainment Book Three
to go live on 4/20/18!
What do your plans for future projects include? Future
projects include 5 anthologies, starting a new series that is a spin off of
Davis Entertainment and an anniversary copy of Davis Entertainment. That is all in 2018! In 2019 I have 3 more
anthologies lined up and a plan to start a third series!
