Review: This book was definitely different. I'm not a huge fan of Sci-Fi, although every now and then, I am surprised and read something I really like. I was so happy to see her away from her sparkling vampires {vampires do NOT sparkle} of Twilight.
While I was VERY happy she left her tweenie vampires, this book moved unbelievably slow for me. It took me almost 2 weeks to read {that's unheard of} and I found myself having to put it down and read other books or I'd have nothing to review here.
After reading the book,. I'm not sure Ms. Meyer should be writing anything for anyone over the age of 18. All the characters seemed to be stuck at 16 years of age. It didn't matter their role or age within the book. They all spoke the same exact way.
She constantly seems to repeat things throughout the book. I like a book where the author trusts their reader to understand and *get* what they've been told once. I've come across very few books that I need reminding on. I don't like it when an author thinks I'm incapable of following what they right -- almost insulted.
I also, personally felt that Meyer brought too much more of her own personal religious beliefs into the book. Whereas I understand we are what we are, most authors do it a lot better.
I tried really hard to like this book. There's always something good in each book. For this book it was in it not your typical alien race, so I do give her a credit for that. So many alien concepts are overdone.
